About

Welcome!

I’m so glad that you found your way onto my page! My name is Breanne Chenier, and I am the creator of this blog. I am proudly based in the Niagara region of southern Ontario, Canada. This region has been such an inspiration to my cooking, and I hope that together, we can explore all that Niagara has to offer.

I have been infatuated with cooking since I was a young girl. Sharing delicious recipes, and creating a blog has always been a dream of mine. I’ve finally taken the leap into content creation and I can’t wait to see how far I will grow creatively.

My style of cooking ranges quite drastically but one thing that remains constant is the importance for me to cook using seasonal ingredients, especially from our abundant local markets here in Niagara. Making pantry-friendly meals is another one of my strengths. We don’t always have time to run out for ingredients, and cooking this way allows us to focus on sustainability by using everything we have at our disposal before buying more. Being more conscious in our consumption of goods is a huge step towards living a more sustainable lifestyle.

My ultimate goal is to encourage people to add more diversity to their diets. My life has drastically improved since I started viewing food through a lens of nourishment and health, rather than something to feel guilty about enjoying. I believe that there is no better time to start enjoying life and feeling good about food than right now.

On this blog, you will find a great variety of recipes and inspiration. I try to encourage plant-focused eating by making it more approachable, when available. I am not a full blown vegan, not that there is anything wrong with that, but I do try to live my life in a way that reflects a partially-vegan diet, focusing on plant-forward meals, and making swaps where possible.

I can’t wait to share all of my favorite seasonal soups, mains and some desserts with all of you.

The Nitty Gritty

Culinary School and Winery/Viticulture Tech.

One of the most pivotal moments for me was making the decision to pursue my passions by joining a Culinary School program in 2016. The Canadian Food and Wine Institute at Niagara College had a big impact on the development of my skills and confidence. After graduating from the Culinary Management program, I realized I wanted to dive deeper into the world of Wine. I began the Winery and Viticulture Technician program in 2018. Both of these programs equipped me with an immense love for the region in which I grew up.

Niagara is one of the most abundant regions in Ontario due to our special climate. This climate allows the production of special grape varieties for wine production that have the ability to compete with world class wines. Over two-thirds of Ontario’s tender fruit orchards are located in Niagara, which accounts for the majority of the province’s cherries, pears, plums, prunes, grapes, and peaches. That is certainly something to celebrate.
